Applying For Benefits (For Veterans):
The first thing that you need to do is to join the VA medical system, apply for your VA ID card and get help if necessary!

Finding Help Applying For Service Connected Compensation
Unfortunately the the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) does not cover the majority of our side effects because Congress still has not declared what side effects that the Department of Veteran Affairs must cover in regards to NAF Atsugi, nor has Congress appropriated the necessary funding to assist the VA in compensating the veterans who have been injured by the exposure to toxins at NAF Atsugi. Your best bet is to order your military medical records (make copies of every medical document that is related to your service connected injury and submit your proof when you file). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you get a Veterans Service Officer (VSO) to help you file a claim with the VA Compensation and Pension Department because a VSO's only job is to represent you throughout the Compensation and Pension process, and best of all VSO's are totally free!
The Compensation and Pension Departments only job is to adjudicate your claim and they are used to working with VSO's on a regular basis and they both know how the 38-CFR's (the rules and regulations the Comp & Pen goes by to judge your claim) work.
Here are a few organizations that can help you through this process....
Disabled American Veterans (DAV)
http://www.dav.org/
Veterans Of Foreign Wars (VFW)
http://www.vfw.org/
The American Legion
The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvement in the legislation process from local districts to Capitol Hill. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands behind the issues most important to the nation's veterans community, backed by resolutions passed by volunteer leadership.

Vietnam Veterans Of America (VVA)
Vietnam Veterans of America is the only national Vietnam veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA is organized as a not-for-profit corporation and is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(19) of the Internal Revenue Service Code

Paralyzed Veterans of America
Veterans with spinal cord injury, as well as other veterans needing assistance with VA benefits, entitlements, medical care and other benefits, often rely on PVA's Veterans Benefits Department (VBD).

Military Order Of The Purple Heart
The MOPH is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat. Although our membership is restricted to the combat wounded, we support all veterans and their families with a myriad of nation-wide programs by Chapters and National Service Officers.
http://www.purpleheart.org/
Local Veterans Service Organizations (VSO's)
There are many amazing VSO resources out there who can be found in your local town, county, or even state governments who assist veterans for FREE! But it is also a great idea to use one of the larger national VSO's who have their own lobbyists and millions of members because they can change national and government policies for benefits a lot easier than your local or state VSO's can.
38 CFR Code Of Federal Regulations (Rules That The VA Uses To Adjudicate Your Compensation & Pension Claim)
You must use the 38 CFR's when filing your claim, they are what the VA Compensation and Pension Department uses to adjudicate your claim for your service connected disability. Here are the rules and regulations that you MUST use in your claim which is why I recommend that you get assistance because it can be really complicated!

HOMELESS VETERAN, SPOUSE, & FAMILY CARE PROGRAMS
I Am Going Lose My Home To The Bank What Can I Do?
Google your local state for information on "The Homestead Act" because some states may assist disabled veterans from losing their homes from banks due to their service connected injuries. It varies from state to state but many counties also give disabled veterans a break on their property taxes depending on their SC percentage. Call your local county tax assessment office for details.
